March 28, 2011– Mary Furlong & Associates, a business development, marketing and strategic communications firm which works with companies seeking to capitalize on new business and investment opportunities in the baby boomer/50+ market, announces that CEO Mary Furlong was named a ‘Woman of Influence’ for 2011 by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. The distinction was unveiled in their awards publication inserted in their March 18 print issue.
The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal honors 100 business leaders every year in its Women of Influence special insert, published in the spring. Candidates are nominated through the Business Journal'sonline nominations page, and a selection committee of previous honorees chooses that year's winners. The 2011 Women of Influence committee included 2010 honorees Wendy Beecham, Forum for Women Entrepreneurs & Executives; Theresia Gouw Ranzetta, Accel Partners; Carole Leigh Hutton, United Way Silicon Valley; and Leah Toeniskoetter, Toeniskoetter & Breeding Inc. Development.
Among the honorees are inspiring women in every industry: lawyers, venture capitalists, space scientists, health care leaders, technology professionals and nonprofit executives.
Furlong will be celebrated as one of the top 100 women at a private reception and awards dinner with other 2011 Women of Influence honorees and their supports on April 14 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.
